This circa January 1901 Edison “Concert” originally sold for $75.00, and plays 5-inch cylinder records. This machine is equipped with a Polyphone Attachment and two Edison “Automatic” reproducers. The Polyphone was an attempt to play records with greater volume, and when fitted to an Edison “Concert” as seen here, the loudest volume for the time was achieved. Peter Bacigalupi was a prominent dealer of talking machines in San Francisco, and artifacts so marked are of special interest to collectors.
